Surfing in Wales

Andy had always wanted to try out surfing so he thought he'd see if his friends were up for it.

Using Wigadoo just made it so easy to suggest an idea to friends and get them to support it. The money stuff was all dealt with up front so there was no hassle like there usually is.

How it worked

Friends invited -> friends pledge -> money collected -> money spent -> good times!

Andy sent out a Wigadoo invite to see if anyone fancied a weekend surfing in Wales. He asked for at least 4 friends to pledge £200 by Friday to get the plan off the ground.

By Friday, 4 people had signed up and so the event was definitely going ahead.

Then a few more people signed up after the deadline. In the end 8 people pledged £200 and because they'd pledged with Wigadoo Andy knew they were definitely in!

Andy collected different amounts from different people because some people were coming for two days and some for three.

The money went into an online event account which came with its own virtual prepaid MasterCard®. This meant that he could pay for the surf school and the hostel online the same day.

Everyone had an amazing time with no hassle about money during or after the weekend. Genius!

What is this online event account?

The account is actually a Prepaid MasterCard® account for transactions made online or over the phone.

What does that mean?

Well, that means we generate an account for your group that comes with a MasterCard® account number (and expiry date and security code) so that you can spend the money instantly online or over the phone. As well as pooling your friends' money into one place, you get the convenience and security of MasterCard® to spend it.

How can I spend the money?

You can simply use your MasterCard® account number to pay for your event online or over the phone. Or, if you'd like to, you can also transfer money to your own bank account.
