Laura wanted to have a great day out with her friends before they go back to university, without spending too much money.

How it worked

Friends invited -> friends pledge -> money collected -> money spent -> good times!

Laura used the Wigadoo event form to see if any of her friends fancied going to Thorpe Park for a day out. She needed at least 5 people to pledge £30 each by Wednesday, she needed at least 5 people to sign up so they could get a group discount.

Within a few hours of inviting her friends thorough the Wigadoo Facebook app. 8 people had signed up, so the day out was truly off to a great start. After a day 4 more of her friends had pledged. Laura knew for certain how many people were going and how many tickets she would need to book.

The money went into an online event account which came with its own virtual prepaid MasterCard®. This could be used straight after she had collected the money for booking the tickets online at the Thorpe Park website.

Because more than 10 people had pledged, Laura decided that she only needed to collect £22 from each person, as she could get an even bigger group discount.

They all had a wonderful day, and with no money hassles Laura only had to worry about surviving the ride on the Detonator!

What is this online event account?

The account is actually a Prepaid MasterCard® account for transactions made online or over the phone.

What does that mean?

Well, that means we generate an account for your group that comes with a MasterCard® account number (and expiry date and security code) so that you can spend the money instantly online or over the phone. As well as pooling your friends' money into one place, you get the convenience and security of MasterCard® to spend it.

How can I spend the money?

You can simply use your MasterCard® account number to pay for your event online or over the phone. Or, if you'd like to, you can also transfer money to your own bank account.
