Telegraph findings support Wigadoo research conclusions- 3rd July 2008

Here is an interesting article in the Telegraph called 'Facebook and MySpace generation cannot form relationships' that has some insights from the Annual Meeting of the Royal College of Psychiatrists that supports our Wigadoo research results and conclusions from last week. It talks about the online / facebook generation and how they have a distorted view of friendships and their own identity that results from having more online interaction and less face to face interaction with friends. Quite worrying really. We hope that people start focusing on how the internet can be used to make it easier to meet up face to face rather than as an alternative way to interact.

TimesOnline Article - June 19th 2008

I was interviewed by the www.TimesOnline.co.uk for an article called 'What not to do at work social' , I hope it will amuse you ;-) My feeling about this topic, was that the main risk with work social events is that it is too easy to lull yourself into a false sense of security that you are out with your friends and so can really let your hair down. At Wigadoo we put a high value on the time that we get to spend with our close friends . There's nothing better than feeling that you are amongst good old friends , who know you inside out and not matter how you behave you know that they won't judge you because they love you for who you are (cheesy but true , don't you think?) And anyway , they've probably seen you do worse before! The risk with work dos is that you think you are in this lovely safe cocoon , that is socialising with your friends, especially the case if the 'free' booze has been flowing and before you know it you are acting the idiot and embarrassing yourself in front of your bosses and colleagues, and making yourself the focus of all the office gossip! Don't say you haven't been warned ;-)

What is this online event account?

The account is actually a Prepaid MasterCard® account for transactions made online or over the phone.

What does that mean?

Well, that means we generate an account for your group that comes with a MasterCard® account number (and expiry date and security code) so that you can spend the money instantly online or over the phone. As well as pooling your friends' money into one place, you get the convenience and security of MasterCard® to spend it.

How can I spend the money?

You can simply use your MasterCard® account number to pay for your event online or over the phone. Or, if you'd like to, you can also transfer money to your own bank account.
